GAbby Agin-liebes, PhD

Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Psychedelic Researcher

about me

As a clinical psychologist, I'm committed to relieving psychological suffering through psychedelic and mindfulness-based interventions. My work encompasses clinical research, psychotherapy, coaching, teaching, and supervision. Supported by funding from the National Institutes of Health, my research delves into the psychological processes of change within psychedelic therapies, with a particular focus on self-compassion and emotion regulation. Additionally, my research endeavors extend to the development of community-based mental health interventions for indigenous communities in Mexico, Brazil, and Canada as part of a collaborative intercultural plant medicine project with Nierika Intercultural Medicine Institute.

I have authored dozens of peer-reviewed publications and lectured widely about psychedelic therapies. My research findings have been featured in several news outlets including CNN, Newsweek, and The New Yorker. I have served as a therapist on studies of psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy for the treatment of major depression and existential distress associated with a serious medical illnesses.

In my practice based in Oakland, CA, I strive to facilitate individuals' connection with their intuition and inner wisdom. Through talk therapy, coaching, and psychological evaluations, I aim to support this process. Specializing in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and psychedelic integration, my approach is rooted in trauma-informed care, cultural sensitivity, intersectionality, and a commitment to social justice. With a wealth of experience in diverse treatment settings such as hospitals, VAs, residential programs, and community mental health clinics, I offer comprehensive support to individuals on their healing journeys.
